It has been a while since I posted a recipe on here, so I guess we are due. This one is simple, but has a wide variety of uses. Its a compound butter. Simply put, you take butter and mix it with spices and herbs of your choice. It can be used as a spread, it can also be used to add a ton of flavor to whatever you are cooking.
You will need:
2 sticks of butter
1 large jalapeno
1 tbs of thyme
1 tbs of rosemary
What to do…
It is very simple. There are several ways you can do this. If you have a food processor, cut the butter into pats of about one table spoon each. Dice your jalapeno, mince your herbs, put them all in the food processor and pulse until everything is combined.
If you don’t have a food processor. Wait until the butter is soft, dice your jalapeno, and mince your herbs. Combine everything in a bowl using the best tools we have in the kitchen… Your hands (be sure to wear gloves or it will get messy fast).
Now that you have your butter, pepper and herbs combined, you can form them into a container. I used some ramekins I had laying around with no particular purpose, now they are my butter molds/holders.
I will be using this butter to spice up my next recipe, it may be a mild spice but it will most certainly be a savory spice.
